I got my hair cut, Chinese style!
The idea to cut my hair came to me this morning while I was in class, so while my students were doing group work, I drew these pictures:
I was thinking, maybe a 1940's bob? or a pixie cut? or at least something that would trim the ratty, mullet I had going on in the back, and give me more of a sophisticated aura. I am a college level instructor, ya know...
So I put my hopes in the hair salon 25 yards away from my front door. I brought my 3rd grade level drawings and motioned "cut cut" with my fingers at my head. I got shampooed and toweled off, and put into the chair of a androgynous boy thing with a cute do, and trendy glasses...aren't all men who work at salons supposed to look like that? =)
He did an awesome job! We didn't say a word to each other the entire time, except at the end when he asked, "OK?"
"Yes, it's great!" I answered. Three other stylists looked on in amazement at all the brown curly hair on the floor. I paid them 5 rmb, (80 cents) the going rate for a shampoo and hair style these days in Tongliao.
A new month, a new do, a new me!
