Goodbye 2008,
Hello 2009.
I listed some things I've done in 2008. Afterwards, it made me feel exhausted. See if it has the same effect on you.
1. 19 take offs and landings. 5 of those flights were around the world... 12+ hours.
2. I read 23 novels, not including magazines, short stories and newspapers.
3. Traveled through India (in summer with 18 other people) saw my first dead person (floating in the Ganges) lived in an ashram, volunteered in 3 orphanages, and felt really grateful about my own life.
4. I lost a close friend only 24 years old... RIP John.
5. Survived 4 rejection letters to graduate programs.
6. Moved to a strange part of the world, and embraced a new community.
7. Started a new, challenging job. In 2008, I worked 4 different jobs.
8. Began and nurtured a romantic relationship, and made a commitment to being in a serious relationship.
9. Knit, and started to learn Mandarin.
10. Became financially independent from my parents.
11. Sold my car, and rode a bicycle. Ol' Bici how I miss you back home.
12. Sold all my furniture for $200 to a teenager with a baby in Los Lunas.
13. Started a blog
14. I wore a silly brides maid dress in my younger brother's wedding.
15. Rode in 8 trains.
whew!
and I'm sure I'm forgetting more.
This is what I would like to do in 2009:
1. provide myself with stability and a community.
2. ride in less airplanes than last year.
3. take more siestas.
4. Be more patient, less frustrated and impulsive.
5. re-take the GREs... and get a good score.
6. Nurture the goddess within.
