This morning all my Sophomore students are test taking.
The campus is extremely quiet.
The test is called, "Test for English Majors 4" and is extremely important to their success as college students and in finding a job. They have been studying for months for this exam. All I've heard is how nervous they are about taking this test. Most of the students have not even told their parents they are taking this exam, because if they fail, they won't have to tell their parents, because their parents won't know anyway.
For this university the passing rate is about 30-50% The students need to score a 60% on the exam in order to pass. I've looked at one of the review books for this test and it is comparable to the verbal section of the GRE. It has countless difficult vocabulary words, sentence completion and reading comprehension. They also have a listening section and a writing section.
I am lighting a candle for them right now.
I can't wait until Monday when their attention will be more focused on my lesson, instead of studying for this killer exam. Also, I've been waiting for this test to be over so I can ask some of them to do me favors....such as taking me to send a package, take Nina to get her 3rd injection, and come over to teach me how to make fermented veggies.
yummmm.

Today I woke and felt pretty good.
Christian knows that getting me out of the house makes me really good.
So often, he stops what he is doing and takes...

How is your puppy doing and when do you come back to the US. How did you get involved in teaching were you are?
Nina is fine. I am returning this July. I just applied for a job posting online, and took a big leap of faith in selling all my belongings and getting here. I have a BA in English. That's about it.
