a cold in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand

10:29am

I sit on my bed with looking out at the roofs of houses and of tall tall trees. we have a room on the 4th floor of a quiet travel hostel. the air conditioner is on, and for the first time in months I am not wearing socks or a sweater. the humidity and the profusion of vegetation reminds me of a couple of my childhood visits in Miami, Florida.

If I wasn't so stuffed up with a cold, I would be out and about exploring. The 6 hour flight yesterday from Beijing to Bangkok put a lot of pressure in my ears that I still haven't been able to yawn to shake out. I was really hurting in the plane when it began to descend over Bangkok. I feel like there is a layer of fluid in my ears and I only half hear myself when I speak.

It's peaceful here, and it's a shame I'll be sleeping and recuperating indoors when it's such a nice day, but from what I hear about Thailand I'll have plenty more nice days during my trip.

pray I shake this cold, and can go out in the pool.
